Morris Museum Celebrated 100 Years at the Centennial Celebration Gala!

One of New Jersey’s largest and most dynamic cultural institutions, the Morris Museum has served the community for 100 years, celebrating creativity in the arts, sciences, history and theatre.  On September 21, 2013, nearly 300 guests gathered under a grand tent at the Morris Museum for the Centennial Celebration Gala.  Guests included Honorary Co-Chairs Governor and Mrs. Chris Christie and Honorable and Mrs. Rodney Frelinghuysen.  The gala event was also co-chaired by long time Museum supporters Michele and David Hedley and Maryann and Charles Pascarella.  Mr. Pascarella is a member of the Morris Museum Board of Trustees.

During this commemorative event, the Morris Museum presented the F.M. Kirby Foundation with the Chester Newkirk Award for their outstanding commitment to the Morris Museum and the arts community.  Foundation President and Director S. Dillard Kirby was at the gala to accept the award along with several other members of the F.M. Kirby Foundation’s Board including Walker Kirby, Alice Kirby Horton, Sandra Sherman, and Wilson Compton.

During the festivities, guests were also treated to a preview of the current exhibition, Wet & Wild:  Contemporary Art Quilts from the Collection of John M. Walsh III which will be on view at the Museum through December 8, 2013.

Proceeds from the Centennial Celebration Gala go to support the Museum’s education, exhibition and theatre programs.
