Permanent Exhibition: Doll and Toy Gallery

As part of the museum's expansion and renovation project,

the Doll & Toy Gallery will be temporarily located in the Historic Classroom

on the upper level.

Little boy doll made in Italy by Enrico Scavino "Lenci," ca. 1920.
Housed in the mansion section of the museum, the Doll and Toy Gallery transports visitors to days gone by with its impressive variety of both classic toys and collectibles sure to bring back fond memories and ignite the imagination. The museum boasts a collection of dolls that numbers in the thousands from locations as remote as Kenya and as close as Chatham, New Jersey, some dating as early as the mid-1800s.

Children of any age will surely enjoy our wide assortment of board games, graceful and ornate dollhouses, tin and clockwork toys and sports equipment. In the Doll & Toy Gallery, visitors learn that toys are not only fun but educational as well. Children from the youngest ages are socialized into the roles and behavior expected of them as adults by the toys with which they play.
