STORY TIME, STORY QUILTS!
The Morris Museum is offering a special children’s workshop series in conjunction with Faith Ringgold’s exhibition. The series takes place on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to noon.
During each session, museum educators will read one of Ringgold’s children’s stories in the gallery followed by a craft project.
The cost for each session is $3 for members and $4 plus museum admission for non-members. Pre-registration is not required. Call 973.971.3718 for more information.
October 1 – Story Quilts
Listen to Tar Beach and create a story quilt on canvas using paint and fabric.
October 8 – Your Colorful Day
Listen to Cassie’s Colorful Day and create colorful clothes and hair to personalize a wooden doll.
October 22 – What’s for Dinner?
Listen to Dinner at Aunt Connie’s House and use tempera paint on canvas to create a portrait of someone special.
November 12 – All Aboard!
Listen to Aunt Harriet’s Underground Railroad and make a railroad using brightly colored paper.
November 19 – A Dream of Peace
Listen to My Dream of Martin Luther King and make a hanging dove symbolizing King’s dream of peace.
December 10 – Bonjour Paris
Listen to Bonjour Lonnie, a story set in the streets of Paris. Create your own clay sculpture using your imagination.
December 17 – The Wheels on the Bus
Listen to If a Bus Could Talk: The Story of Rosa Parks. Children use multi-colored scratchboard to etch a picture of themselves doing something that makes them proud!
