For the first time in the Museum’s new building, MoMA presents an installation featuring the full group of Claude Monet’s late paintings in the collection. These include a mural-sized triptych (Water Lilies) and a single-panel painting of the water lilies in the Japanese-style pond that Monet cultivated on his property in Giverny, France (Water Lilies), as well as The Japanese Footbridge and Agapanthus, depicting the majestic plants in the pond’s vicinity. These paintings have long held a special status with the Museum’s audiences. We will also enjoy a docent tour of the Museum’s 20th century paintings and sculptures. Our luncheon will be at the renowned ‘21’ Club located in Midtown Manhattan near the Broadway theatre district. ‘21’ Club offers superb American cuisine, a Grand Award-winning wine list, and discretely attentive service.

This Picasso exhibit explores works from his early experiments with abstraction, his pioneering role in cubism, and his influences with surrealism and other art movements. The exhibit also studies the role of the city of Paris, the school of Paris and the artists who migrated there to study Picasso’s works. More than 100 paintings, sculptures and works on paper will be on view – a unique opportunity to consider the cross-fertilization of ideas. We will take an audio–tape tour at 10:30 a.m. Additional new exhibits at the museum feature Japanese art and embroidered quilts from Eastern India. Then we will proceed to The Historic City Tavern Restaurant, an 18th century dining experience, for a quiet lunch in this landmark building (narrow staircases to dining rooms-no elevator.) We need a minimum of 25 people by March 30th to run this trip.

Join us for a one hour walking tour of Grand Central Terminal and discover its architecture and history. We will then have lunch at Lidia Bastianich’s “Becco”. As the famous author and Italian chef of Lidia’s Italy and Lidia’s Family Table would say, “Tutti a tavola a mangiare” (Everyone to the table to eat.) On our return trip we will stop in Bayonne to view the memorial at Harbor View Park. “To the Struggle Against World Terrorism” honors victims of 9/11 and the 1993 World Trade Center bombings and serves as a symbol of solidarity in the fight against world terrorism. Standing more than 100 feet high, its center contains a jagged tear. The Memorial was created by Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, and was a gift from the Russian people. Must have a minimum of 30 people by March 31st.
